Workshop (Dialogue)

Date & Time: Tuesday, 3 March 2026, 16:20–17:00

Title:

NII Management Practices and Advanced Decision-Making at MUFG Bank
— Exploring Scenario Design, Analysis, and the Role of AI from a Practitioner’s Perspective —

    Speakers:

    Haruhiko Yoshida
Managing Director, Deputy Head of Corporate Risk Management Division,
     MUFG Bank

    Hideyuki Torii
President & CEO, Numerical Technologies (Japan)
     Managing Director, Numerical Technologies (Singapore)

    Kian Zhong Siaw
COO / CTO, Numerical Technologies (Singapore)

    Overview:

As changes in the interest rate environment become the norm, NII management at banks faces growing challenges—not only in developing scenarios and running simulations, but also in how to interpret the results and translate them into management decision-making.
In this session, starting from the practical perspective of MUFG Bank, we will discuss NII simulations, attribution analysis, and approaches to risk scenarios, focusing on how analysis and explanation can effectively support executive decisions. The discussion will also explore how AI can be used to enhance result interpretation and decision support, as well as the governance considerations required for practical use in real-world operations.

    Workshop (Panel Discussion)

    Date & Time: Wednesday, 4 March 2026, 10:00–10:40

    Title:

       Director, Numerical Technologies (Singapore)

      Kokoro Arai
       System Architect, Numerical Technologies (Japan)

      Overview:

The use of generative AI in asset management risk management is attracting growing interest for improving operational efficiency and supporting analysis. At the same time, many practical issues remain, such as how to handle AI outputs, how to incorporate them into decision-making processes, and how to ensure accountability and proper governance. In this panel, practitioners directly involved in day-to-day risk management will share the challenges and concerns they face in the field, discuss where generative AI can realistically be applied, and explore how organizations should engage with it going forward. We will also present a system demo as an example of what is achievable today.
